Save a video timestamp as a full-size image without uploading

Open a local video, preview a moment and save its decoded frame as PNG or JPG. Capture several moments for a tutorial, reference board or presentation without sending the video to a server.

How to use this tool

  1. Select one video up to 200 MiB with a browser-supported codec. Decoded frames must stay within 16 million pixels.
  2. Pause playback, move the timeline or enter a timestamp in seconds. Choose PNG or JPG and capture the frame.
  3. Review up to 20 screenshots (60 MiB total), remove unwanted images and download individually or create a ZIP.

A practical example

To illustrate a step in a screen recording, enter 12.5 seconds, preview the moment and capture it as PNG for clear interface text. Capture a second moment at 18 seconds, then download both in one ZIP. Use the image cropper afterward to focus on the relevant part.

Frequently asked questions

Which video formats work?

MP4 and WebM are common containers, but actual playback depends on the codec and browser. MOV and other containers may work when supported. Unsupported or corrupt videos show an error; no extra codec, FFmpeg download or remote conversion is used.

Is timestamp selection frame accurate?

The tool uses ordinary browser seeking, not keyframe-only fastSeek. The browser still chooses the decoded presentation frame; a timestamp with three decimals does not guarantee exact frame boundaries. Variable frame rates and codec behavior can affect the result.

Are screenshots resized or watermarked?

No. Images use decoded video dimensions, up to 16 million pixels. We add no watermark or player UI; existing overlays burned into the video remain. JPEG uses the selected quality and transparency is filled white. HDR, color profiles and metadata may not match specialist video software.

Can I extract every frame from a long video?

No. This tool captures selected timestamps manually, up to 20 images and 60 MiB per batch. Finite-duration local videos have no fixed time limit but files must be within 200 MiB. Long seeks time out after 20 seconds and can be cancelled.
