Crop a photo to the part that matters
Keep a custom rectangle or choose a square, 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. Pixel coordinates refer to the decoded original image, not the screen preview.
How to use this tool
- Choose one still JPEG, PNG or WebP image, up to 20 MiB and 16 million pixels.
- Drag outside the selection to draw a crop, drag inside to move it, or drag a corner to resize. Choose an aspect ratio or type exact coordinates.
- Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP output, crop the image and download the verified result. Changing the selection invalidates the previous download.
A practical example
A 1200 × 800 photo can produce an 800 × 800 square crop without stretching. Choose 1:1, move the selection to frame your subject and download. For a transparent logo, use PNG output to preserve alpha.
Frequently asked questions
Can I crop an image into a square or 16:9 rectangle?
Yes. Choose 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9 to constrain a dragged selection. Free selection allows any rectangle. Pixel rounding can differ by one pixel from the exact ratio.
Does cropping resize or stretch the selected area?
No. The output contains the selected pixels at their original decoded dimensions. Use the separate image resizer to make the crop smaller afterward.
Can I preserve a transparent PNG background?
Yes. PNG and WebP output retain transparency. JPEG fills transparent areas with the selected white or black background. Metadata and original color profiles are not retained.
Can I crop on a phone or without dragging?
Yes. Touch dragging is supported on the canvas. You can also edit the X, Y, width and height fields. With the canvas focused, arrow keys move the selection, and Shift moves it by ten pixels.
