Cut a recording locally before sharing or converting it to MIDI
Keep a useful phrase from a voice memo or instrument recording. Set exact times, apply optional fades, and review the rendered WAV before downloading. No server conversion or music recognition model is needed.
How to use this tool
- Open a browser-supported audio file, such as MP3 or WAV, up to 30 MiB and 10 minutes. Mono and stereo are supported within a 96 MiB decoded-audio budget.
- Drag over the waveform or enter start and end times in seconds. Choose a clip up to 5 minutes and optional fade-in and fade-out durations.
- Render the clip, listen to the actual output and download the 48 kHz, 16-bit PCM WAV. To use Audio to MIDI, open that tool and select the downloaded clip.
A practical example
A guitar recording has room noise before the melody. Set Start to 2.5 and End to 14.5, then try a 0.02-second fade in and a 0.15-second fade out. Review the result before feeding it into Audio to MIDI; avoid long fades that hide the note attacks you want to transcribe.
Frequently asked questions
Can I export MP3?
This tool exports PCM WAV only. It can read MP3 and other formats when your browser supports their codecs. It does not download an extra codec or fall back to server processing.
Does trimming preserve stereo and sample rate?
Mono stays mono and stereo stays stereo. Processing and export use 48 kHz; the browser resamples other source rates. Output is 16-bit PCM, so this is not a bit-perfect or lossless compressed-file cut. Metadata is not preserved.
Why do fade durations need to fit the selection?
Each fade uses a linear volume ramp at its end of the clip. Their combined duration cannot exceed the selected duration. A value of zero leaves that end unchanged; hard cuts can click when the waveform is not near zero.
Are recordings uploaded or kept after I leave?
No. Decoding and WAV encoding run locally. Clear, Replace or leaving the page releases session files and previews; downloaded copies stay on your device. Cancelling native browser decoding waits for that operation to settle before discarding the result.
