Why some imported MIDI notes are silent

Channel mismatch is a possibility, not a diagnosis.

Inspect before changing channels

Use the MIDI inspector to confirm note-on events exist and see which channels contain them. In FL Studio, note colors can identify MIDI channels; the result also depends on the plugin and its routing. Several colors do not automatically mean the file is broken.

Check the receiving instrument

  1. Confirm the correct instrument is loaded, audible and routed to an active mixer output.
  2. Check which MIDI channel or channels it receives. Compare that setting with the inspector’s channel list.
  3. If your intended use is a single melodic instrument on Channel 1, try the optional melodic channel mapping on a copy. Channel 10 stays unchanged.
  4. Compare the new copy with the original. Mapping also merges controller and program messages; remove only those you intentionally do not want.

When mapping is the wrong fix

A multitimbral arrangement may need its channels kept separate. The cleaner rejects overlapping same-pitch notes from different source tracks or channels, and it does not supply missing instruments, reconstruct broken notes or fix host automation. It does not split tracks in this version.
