A video format that fits your next step

Make a short phone recording or web capture easier to share. This tool re-encodes actual video and audio; changing the filename alone would not convert it.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose one MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, M4V or AVI video, up to 50 MiB and 60 seconds. Source must fit 2,073,600 pixels with neither edge above 1920px.
  2. Choose MP4 or WebM, original dimensions or a 720p/480p box, a quality preset, and whether to keep the first audio track.
  3. Convert, inspect the real output playback, then download. You can cancel; any setting change removes the old download.

A practical example

Convert a short WebM screen recording to H.264 MP4 with its sound, or save an MP4 as a muted WebM at a smaller resolution.

Frequently asked questions

Which conversions are supported?

Accepted containers are MOV, MP4, WebM, MKV, M4V and AVI, subject to the codecs supported by the pinned decoder. Output is MP4 with H.264 and optional AAC, or WebM with VP8 and optional Vorbis. Damaged files and audio-only files are rejected.

Will it keep the same quality and file size?

No. This is re-encoding, not lossless remuxing. Presets trade quality against bytes; smaller output is not guaranteed. Dimensions are even, frame rate is limited to 30 fps, and subtitles, extra tracks, transparency and source metadata are not preserved.

What about portrait, HDR and long recordings?

Portrait rotation is applied to the pixels and fits a portrait resolution box without enlargement. SDR and square-pixel sources only; HDR, non-square pixels, sources over 60 seconds, over 50 MiB or above the source dimension limits are rejected. No automatic truncation is offered.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. A pinned ~31 MiB FFmpeg WASM file downloads from a primary or backup CDN and is verified before execution. Files stay local. Export runs in a cancellable Worker with a processing timeout and a 60 MiB output limit.
